A Panel box is something you can find in any establishment, home, or even mobile home. It typically is referred to as a fuse box or a fuse panel where a switch for each part of the building or home’s electrical source is located.

Some of the main components of a panel box are but are not limited to:

1. Main Circuit Breaker – This is the main Breaker that controls all the individual circuit breakers in the panel; turning this off will stop energy flow to the entire panel by preventing the utility current from passing through. This breaker will tell you the amp capacity for the entire panel, which is usually 200 amps but can be higher if necessary.
2. Hot Bus Bars – Each main circuit breaker has two black wires that carry 120 volts that are meant to feed through the hot bus bars in the panel. Once the main circuit breaker is inserted, it helps provide power to all the other circuits. Single-pole is 120 volts where a Double-pole is 240 volts.
3. Neutral Bus Bars – This is when power returns from the devices using the energy, the power returns the electrical current to the panel per a neutral circuit wire connected to the neutral bus bar.
4. Ground Bus Bars – This bus bar is normally connected to the neutral bus bar in main service panels. Sometimes a Neutral Bus Bar can also service this purpose, it’s for ground wire connections.
5. Circuit Breakers – The individual circuit breakers service the electric flow to each room of the establishment. They can carry 120 volts – 240 volts and 15 Amps – 50 Amps. These circuits oversee keeping consistent energy flow to household appliances and large electrical equipment that run 24/7.
